TRAINING FOR LEADERSHIP
Programme for training family counselling trainers
In 2007, the Rafael del Pino Foundation and the Instituto de Iniciativas de Orientación Familiar [Institute for Family Counselling Initiatives - IOFF in Spanish] signed a collaboration agreement, which was renewed on 8 October 2008, for the organisation of a pilot programme to train family counsellors.
The course consisted of 40 hours of classroom learning split between theory classes and the discussion of 14 case studies. The participants were teachers from the public and private sector education systems who received training in the basic criteria of family education based on the development of values in a climate of freedom and selfdiscipline. The results of the practical exercises and of an end-of-course test showed that the participants had benefited greatly from the course.
The 2007-2008 programme, in which more than 1,500 trainers took part, began on 24 October 2007 and ended on 26 March 2008 at a ceremony attended by the Chairman of the IOFF, José Antonio Sánchez, the course Director, José Miguel Cubillo, and the Deputy Director of the Foundation, Vicente J. Montes Gan.
